Hi, everyone! I've been reading through a lot of archived threads here for quite a while, enjoying the discussions and getting some good recommendations for reading materials. Thought I'd sign up so occasionally I can post a "thank you" to people who've steered me in helpful directions. I'm a cradle (Latin/RCC) Catholic; lost my faith completely in my 20s; reluctantly re-conceded the existence of "some kind of deity" in my 30s; investigated every religion under the sun in hopes I wouldn't have to go back to Christianity; reverted to Christianity anyway; became Byzantine (Eastern Rite) Catholic when I got married 12 years ago; got interested in Eastern Orthodoxy because of that; then came across Anglicanism* when looking at their "Western Rite" Orthodoxy. (And of course, I've read everything C.S. Lewis ever wrote, so that helped.) (Isn't religion fun? ) Anyway, thanks for letting me in -- see you in the forums! Theistgal
How interesting... Western-Rite Orthodoxy being a funnel for people into Anglicanism.... My greetings!
Welcome to the Forums! I too became fascinated with Eastern Orthodoxy in my Church History studies. I was led on the Eastern Trail by a chapter in Bruce Shelley’s “Church History in Plain Language, 4th Edition.” I explored the Byzantione Church via Bishop Kallistos (Timothy) Ware’s “The Orthodox Church: An Infroduction to Eastern Christianity,” Katherine Clark’s “The Orthodox Church-Simple Guides,” Correspondence with Fr. Photios, attensing Friday Vigil at Eastern Church and etc.
