All of those questions are relevant as far as your original question is concerned. Answers about my ancestry would imply something important about each of those qualifications to the question

My ethicity is not the same thing at all as my nationality. Which line of ancestal descent are to asking for, my mother's or my Fathers? I can trace some of my ancestry back to before the 16th century in Dorset and Cornwall, England. The political map has changed considerably in the last 5 centuries and England actually didn't even exist before the 10th century, neither did Germany, as such, so accurately answering the question "Which country do my ancestors come from is more difficult than you imagine". Mine come from the kingdom of Wessex and the Kingdom of West Wales, as known by the Saxons but now called Cornwall, which you would find very confusing since Wales nowadays is quite far west in the British Isles NOW, without getting your feet wet in salt water but not as far West as Cornwall.

I fail to see the point of asking the question? Do the answers to the question actually tell anyone anything about ME?
And if nobody actually learns anything about anyone, what's the point of the survey?

In you own case HOW can it be Germany only? You MUST have HAD ancestors before Germany became Germany. They must have come from SOMEWHERE, and since what we now call Germany was once covered entirely with ice during the Ice Age, and nobody at all lived there, they probably came from a warmer, probably Mediterranean climate as the ice melted but as there were no records kept way back then, no one now knows who they were or from whence they came.
