Can anyone tell me to what extent Sensationalism exists in Catholic (Orthodox, Roman, Anglican) circles like it does in the Protestant world, such as the IFB/Independent Fundamental Baptists, Jack Chick, etc.? Protestant denominations seem to love sensationalist propaganda. Even groups like NovusOrdoWatch do not startle me as much as Jack Van Impe or other tacky Protestant 'news' programs. I dislike the fact that Catholic groups tend to be esoteric, obscuring the simple message of the gospel, yet, despite the humility of many Protestant evangelists, there is also a desire not to grow beyond a shallow theology. Both of them seem to have problems. What do you think?

Following a lot of traditionalist Catholics on Twitter, it definitely is a real thing. It can veer into crankishness real quick.
