Candlemas is an important day in the Catholic Church and I am pleased to know that it is observed in the Anglican Church as well.
Most of these older feasts are disappearing because they were calculated according to the one year lectionary. The three year cycles have a different internal logic and generally eschew weekday feasts in favour of transferring to Sunday or plugging in the Sunday of who knows what social cause.
