It’s Time To Stop Pretending All Religions Are Equal

    Mar. 22, 2016 1:47pm
    Matt Walsh

I walked into the living room this morning and my wife was watching the news. She said ”another terrorist attack” with all the shock and surprise of a person observing that the sun had risen in the east or water had turned to ice in the freezer. It’s not that she didn’t care, or that I don’t, but this is all a part of the standard procedure now. Brush your teeth, put on your shoes, watch the news coverage about an Islamic terrorist attack, walk the dog. And so on and so on and so on. The only really shocking thing anymore is that nothing is shocking anymore.

As you know, this one was in Belgium. One explosion at a subway station in Brussels and another two blasts at the Brussels airport. Dozens dead. Hundreds injured. And so on and so on and so on.

Of course, the only thing more routine than Muslims slaughtering mass numbers of innocents is how people react to it here in America. The same old arguments, amounting to nothing.

President Barack Obama stopped flapping his limp wrists in Cuba long enough to deliver a quick and empty statement about the attacks. He called for “unity” and spewed a few other dull platitudes that have no meaning. And so on and so on and so on.

Speaking of amounting to nothing, I vented my frustration on Twitter, because what else can I do? I said I’m sick of hearing about the great benefits of multiculturalism. Europe is drowning in a tidal wave of unassimilated Muslims who are actively hostile to Europe’s culture, or what’s left of it. And for their trouble, Europeans are being gang raped in the street at night and blown to pieces during their morning commute.

Diversity is a strength, they tell me, but I have seen no evidence to support this doctrine. Diversity of thought might be a strength, but even then it is only a strength if the thought is rational and directed towards truth. The nonsensical thoughts of relativistic nincompoops are not valuable or helpful.

Similarly, racial and cultural diversity does not enrich us if we lose our identity in the process. When you throw a bunch of people with diametrically opposed beliefs and values and priorities into a food processor and hit frappe, you end up with a smoothie that tastes an awful lot like the collapse of western civilization and the rise of barbarians.

It's inappropriate to talk about "collapse of western civilisation and the rise of barbarians". While I empathise with much of what you say, your last sentence simply adds fuel to the fire. Incidentally , when Mohatma Gandhi was asked what he thought of western civilisation, he replied " I think it would be a good idea"

The challenge for us as Christians - indeed Anglican Christians - is to recognise that whilst we may react to the atrocity/ies we see committed in the name of another religion, we also need to respond in love. We need our response to overpower our rection. We also need to be mindful of the atrocities that have been committed in the name of our own religion.

Help us understand in the battle for hearts and minds, mindless and heartless acts achieve little.

We pray for the people of Brussels, that they may know peace, safety and security.

† Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. †

We pray for the people of Islam, that they may seek peace and secure it.

† Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. †

We pray for ourselves, that we might overcome in ourselves hate and violence and seek to walk in the way of the Holy Cross.

Christianity is by the words of Christ exclusive to all other religions. Christ tells us in the Gospels, you must go through Him to get to God.
    No Christ, no God.

If you look at history, western civilization has been destroyed by barbarians. Islam has tried countless times to destroy it. My wife's native country, Spain,
fought a 700 year war to liberate their country from Islamic invaders. Finally kick the last one out in 1492. Just before that Italian Colon appeared asking for money to sail to India.

While righteous anger is justified, remember Jesus made a whip and flipped tables and hit a few people, we do not need to lash out. A systematic response with appropriate force is needed. We are in a war, they have been at war with us for 1500 years.

In the name of Islam, following the teachings of their prophet, we have had numerous bombings, murders, slavery in just the last 16 years. What is happening in Africa is much worse than Europe, Americas or the Middle East. I am in my 50's so I am going back 50 years....what atrocities have been done in the name of Christ? I can find any from my American view. So lets go back 1000 years. The Crusades? They were a response to about 400 years of Islamic attacks upon the west. Did a Pope, Bishop or leader of the Church teach to slaughter?

I am serious, please list the atrocities the Church has taught were in keeping with the teachings of Christ. Here in my town, an apostate, defrocked and ex-communicated pastor shot and killed an abortionist. He was condemned by all Christian Churches, though he said he did it in keeping with Christs teachings. The Churches help the police track him down. Not so with Islam. Their prophet lead by the sword....killing, burning and raping his way through the middle east and his followers into Africa, Europe and Asia. Christ and His Followers lead by the Cross. Big difference.

So I must disagree with this spin on the blaze article...and I am not a fan of the blaze. Not all religions are the same, Christianity and Christ are superior.
When Islamic followers do what is in their holy books and the teachings of their prophet, please don't try to soothe it by saying Christians do it also. We don't. For a Christian to plant a bomb, shoot up a building, behead children or fly an airplane into buildings; they have to disobey Christ and His teachings. The Islamic followers are not disobedient, they are obeying.

    Blessings,

    Fr. Mark

Mark this is beneath you, it makes you appear bitter and bigoted. Remember Christ came to save all men, not just Christians and atrocities you mention were not committed by Muslims but by terrorists who abuse the name of Islam just as KKK abuses the name of Christianity
