AMiE on the agenda for London GAFCON primates meeting

Archbishop Foley Beach of the Anglican Church in North America will be attending the GAFCON/Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans Primates meeting in London next week. The gathering set for 13-17 April 2015 is expected to plot the future course of the global Anglican reform movement as well as review the agenda set by its 2013 Nairobi Conference.

Next week’s London meeting is expected to discuss the issue of whether to support a parallel Anglican jurisdiction akin to the Anglican Church in North America for England, and how such support should be shown.

In his 23 September 2014 pastoral letter to the Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans (FCA), the group’s leader, Archbishop Eliud Wabukala of Kenya wrote: “It is becoming clear that we must see the once missionary nations of the West as now themselves mission fields.” He further stated “the focus of the struggle for biblical faithfulness has shifted from North America to England.”

To achieve this end, the Anglican Mission in England (AMiE) had been “authorised by the GAFCON Primates to work within and, where necessary, outside the structures of the Church of England as a missionary society”.

Archbishop Beach told Anglican Ink this week: "I am looking forward to working with my fellow primates for the spiritual renewal of Anglicanism throughout the Anglican Communion, and spread of the Biblical Faith which has been passed down to us from the Apostles and Fathers of the Church.”

“In a time when Christians are under assault by radical Islam, the unbridled secularism of the West, and the apostasy of the many in the Church, the fields are ripe for sharing the eternal message of Jesus Christ crucified and resurrected from the dead. Each Primate is stepping away from serious issues in his own country to be at this gathering for the sake of worldwide Anglicanism. I am confident God will honor the sacrifices made by all."
