    Good morning all.

    Hope all are well.

    Question: what is the original source of the phrase "all may, some should, none must" with regards to private auricular confession within The Church of England?

    There is some suggestion that it may be attributed to Richard Hooker.

    There are others who see it arising in the 19th Century (Oxford Movement times)
