Hi. I have accepted Jesus Christ into my life, but have neither been confirmed nor baptised. Am I allowed to come forward to the altar with arms crossed and head bowed, in order to receive a blessing? Many thanks
Definitely. It's available to anyone who comes of their own free will. When visiting my Roman brothers and sisters for Mass, I always go forward during the Communion to receive a blessing.
In my youth it was commonplace to receive a spoken blessing after a conversation with known Christians, inside or without. Especially when I was a child before and during the war and into the present day, within the family we all wish one another ,'Good night and God Bless'! The giving of blessings between Christians seems to have disappeared in modern times. I do it when I remember, or as the Spirit guides me, but receive funny looks!
Praise God! Please do seek a blessing! Also, get with your rector to discuss what is necessary for baptism!
