Fun quiz! You can take it here.
Here's my result:
You’re a passionate Christian, fiercely devoted to Jesus Christ and his Church. You are willing to labor long hours in the Lord’s vineyard, and you have little patience with those who are less willing or able to work as you do. Your passions often carry you into temptation zones of wrath, lust, and pride.
Never heard of him ,it appears to be Reading time
You are St. Justin Martyr!
You have a positive and hopeful attitude toward the world. You think that nature, history, and even the pagan philosophers were often guided by God in preparation for the Advent of the Christ. You find “seeds of the Word” in unexpected places. You’re patient and willing to explain the faith to unbelievers.
Interesting questions they have
Clever quiz! I'll be looking forward to taking it one of these days
St. Justin Martyr. Interesting!
It should be reading time indeed!
Jerome translated the Bible into Latin in the 4th century. He was a great scholar, theologian and priest.
I got St. Jerome, too, which doesn't seem right at all. I admire the acerbic writing style in certain of his letters, but on the whole I do not feel much of a kinship with him. He was strident and unforgiving when it came to orthodoxy; very much a Latin. My favorite Church Fathers are those of the Cappadocian and Alexandrian schools. With Tertullian as the wild card.
It's a fun little survey, but it's too short and limiting.
I completely relate to that.
I am a Noob, cut me some slack
I should think so. There's a lot of overlap between you and St. Jerome, although one difference that comes to mind is that Jerome had a soft spot for classical pagans. I believe he had a vast personal library of pagan works that he'd collected since his youth, and he was reluctant to part with it even as his theological conservatism hardened.
Well...I certainly enjoyed reading classical pagan works like the Odyssey, the Iliad or the Aeneid when I was younger. And I do have a historical interest in both Western and Eastern Paganism, since those subjects were part of my area of studies in university. I also fancy the Latin and Ancient Greek languages so it's not like I'm completely averse to pagan heritage.
I admit that I'm not exactly a fan as you are, though.
Interesting. What did you major in? And was this at a religious or secular university?
Major in "History," minor in "Culture and Religion."
It was in a secular university. Left-leaning, in fact.
You are St. Melito of Sardis!
You have a great love of history and liturgy. You’re attached to the traditions of the ancients, yet you recognize that the old world — great as it was — is passing away. You are loyal to the customs of your family, though you do not hesitate to call family members to account for their sins.
You are Origen!
I am? lol
I got the same thing! Great minds....
I'm very disappointed that I didn't get Origen or St. Clement of Alexandria. I'm not a big admirer of St. Jerome. I blame the survey. Also, I recognize the guy whose site it's on. He's an EWTN contributor; rather blah actually. Fie on't!
