What is the Church of England's historical view of Freemasonry?
I don't believe there is any official statement concerning it. Many Anglicans have been Freemasons, and a member of the Royal family is traditionally the Grand Master of the UGLE (United Grand Lodge of England):

I know some Christians, in particular Roman Catholics, who are vehemently against it. I am not sure about in other countries but in the United States it is largely simply a WASP club.

I believe Archbishop Cyril Garbett Archbishop was an active mason.
I think membership is not so popular now among Anglican Clergy.
