People want their religion to say what it means and to mean what it says, but I'm not sure about wanting it to be extreme. It depends on what we mean by extreme. For me, one of the most attractive qualities about Anglicanism is its stated embrace of reason. My experience so far has been that reason here means individual engagement. The Anglican Church seems to understand and value that we live in a world of diverse personalities and perspectives, and that individual discernment is natural. That point of view requires moderation at the pastoral level.
