Are we physical beings having a spiritual experience, or spiritual beings having a physical experience? Neither! If the former then what links our death to the resurrection? The resurrection is pointless. If the latter then why would we need the resurrection? The resurrection is superfluous. We are both physical and spiritual beings in one body. God formed Adam from the physical dust of the ground and then breathed the spiritual breath of life into him. The separation of the spirit from, and elevation above, the physical body was the root of Gnosticism. The separation of the physical body, and elevation above, the spiritual leads to atheism.
