Hi everybody. A few years back, we were reading 1 John 4 together in church. I felt moved by the words and wanted to set them as a hymn, which last year took shape as Love One Another. We have tried it at our local church, and I’d be very glad for you to listen to it and look at it - and if it’s useful you are very welcome to sing it in your churches or schools. All feedback is very gratefully received, as I am quite new to adapting and writing lyrics, and need a few pointers! The words are below and the music is available to listen to, view and download here: https://www.musicaneo.com/sheetmusic/sm-305687_love_one_another_1_john_4.html 1. Love one another, as God loves you; those who love are born of the Lord. He revealed His love when He sent His only Son, So that we might live through Him. Chorus Our God is love, we will live in Him, so that He may live in us. In that perfect love we will have no fear, for there is no fear in love. 2. He sent His Son to save the world through His sacrifice and pain. In His act of mercy He washed away our sins, and we are born again. Chorus 3. Open your hearts, and speak His words of peace throughout the land. Love your brothers and sisters as God commands with a love that never ends. Final Chorus Our God is love we will live in Him, so that He may live in us. In that perfect love we will have no fear, for there is no fear in love. Our God is love we will live in Him, so that He may live in us. In that perfect love we will have no fear, for there is no fear in love, God is love. Thanks God bless, Wendy
I just read the score and I LOVE IT! May I have your permission to see if I can use it for Compline this coming Wednesday?
Hi Cameron, thank you! So glad it resonates with you. Yes, absolutely, feel free to download it and sing it whenever it's useful. I'm sorry I'm a bit late for your Compline yesterday - hope you went ahead and used it anyway!
