I was baptized in a Southern Baptist church when I was 13. I never liked the Baptist Church, but that was the only type of Christianity that I encountered. Then I visited an Episcopal church and fell in love. I was confirmed at the Easter Vigil a year or two later. Unfortunately, the priest left, and after a couple of years of having interim priests (who were awesome by the way), they brought in this dude who was abrasive and unpleasant. Several people left the parish, including myself, and eventually the parish split into two. Those who left joined ACNA. Note, I am not casting aspersions on the ACNA as I assume they are members of that province on this form. He was also a follower of Frances McNutt. I found it questionable that he was following and teaching others the spiritual practices and theology of a defrocked Catholic priest. Am I wrong for having a problem with that? Oddly enough, he was quite anti-Roman Catholic. Anyway, I joined a continuing Anglican church, which now has gone under. There are no continuing Anglican churches in my state, at least, none close by. After sojourning in other churches, I was finally received back into the Episcopal Church around 2007. It has been a long journey, and most recently I stopped going to church about five years ago. However, I have been longing for the Anglican cycle of prayer and for beautiful liturgy. Tomorrow I am planning to go to the local TEC Cathedral for the Eucharist. Lately I have been praying morning and evening prayer, as well as using Anglican prayer beads. I feel like I have been starving myself spiritually, but now I feel like I am being nourished. The Episcopal Church as well as the entire Anglican world is in a state of flux at this time. I suppose all of Christianity is in a state of flux, which has me a bit nervous, but I’m going to dip my toes in the water and seek after God
God guide and bless you in your endeavor. Many of us have had less than direct guidance and fellowship during our search to get closer to God. Again, good luck and God bless. I have found my home within the Anglican Catholic Church. I have been fortunate to have personal contact and discussion with the Archbishop and two different Canons.
Thank you so much! Just finished my first Eucharist in several years. It was at the local TEC cathedral. I would say it was high-ish church. They used Eucharistic Prayer C from the ‘79 BCP. Not my favorite, but it was nice to be back in church
