Argentina Celebrates As Legalization Of Abortion Is Rejected

Posted at 5:00 pm on August 9, 2018 by Amelia Hamilton

A bill that would legalize elective abortion in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy was rejected by Argentina’s senate early this morning.

    Watch as the crowds celebrated:

Pro-abortion enthusiasts threw rocks at police and lit fires, according to CNN, leading them to respond with tear gas and water cannon. Eight arrests were made.

Pope Francis, an Argentinian by birth, spoke out against abortion soon after the lower house approved the legislation. In March, he asked Argentina to “make a contribution in defense of life and justice.”

After the recent defeat in Ireland, this gives us a great deal of hope for the future.
