    Name days are an age old Christian custom, especially a Catholic custom.
    Not only Catholics know them.

    as a Bernard or Bernhard i have about 25 name days.

    famous among them is Bernard of Clairveaux

    I know my Name Day. My family heritage dates back into Greek Catholic/Orthodox, so Name Days were a big part of their family practices.

    Some of the odd names children are called of late might make name days a bit awkward.
