Sponsors for baptism

    Strictly speaking, do you need sponsors/ Godparent for baptism? Because I didn’t have sponsors when I was baptized. I’m just curious.

    To the best of my knowledge, adults (and I am including teenagers) usually have at least one sponsor - but not having a sponsor does not affect the validity of one's baptism. Having a sponsor is a way to have someone with you on your Christian walk, as a mentor and friend.
    There are certainly other ways for a new Christian to be discipled, and if you want this, I would suggest that you talk to your clergy about it.
