I have read several books on Millennialism. Where does The Anglican Church stand, Premillennial, Amillennial , Postmillennial?
The Orthodox Church that I converted from is largely Amillenial but, as Hackney states, there is no official Anglican position that I am aware of.
I think most would be amillennial or postmillennial but the founders of dispensationalism were Anglican ministers. Likewise, historical premillennialism has had a sizable following in some circles. The Formularies don't teach any one form so nearly any approach is workable within subscription.
I think it is good idea to look tobthe church fathers on most subjects. On this one cause I do not see a full agreement on this. So I look to scripture and just be as prepared as I can be. Thief in the night, the story of the bridesmaids and there oil etc I think thou there is certain things that run counter to them. Raputure and dispensaltism(sp?) Go against the grain of orthodox faith and strikes as a novelty. Lastly if you spend your whole life looking for messages you miss the whole point. Repentance is the Gospel not trying to make a time line of events.
"From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead" in the Apostles' Creed sounds to me like one resurrection and one judgment. In the Athanasian Creed it says "At whose coming all men shall rise again with their bodies: and shall give account for their own works." Perhaps I am ignorant, but I do not think any form of premillennialism is compatible with the Creeds.
