I suppose I must start with something of an apology, I joined with many good intentions of having something to say, to meet and greet you all. Yet as often as not one finds that, paradoxically, upon the moment of committing to an action suddenly all the will behind the idea when existing merely as postulate evaporates as so much puff and bother.
Nevertheless, firming my resolve I have decided to rally round and make a real crack at an introduction.
I shall aim for brevity. I am a man, but dust and ashes indeed, who's head pulls one way- staggered by the complexity of the world, the marvels of our intellectual apprehensions, and the sheer weight that rests on the shoulders of the world religions (and others besides) or at the very least, the conventional religious language games...and yet my heart...pulls quite another. Something about a tug, a sigh, a sense of the deeper depth of thing. It seems just as likely to be real as illusory to me. Yet there is
Dostoyevsky, or Chesterton, or Kierkegaard, or Blake and Eliot and John of the Cross or Polycarp or indeed my beloved Arvo or palestrina in fact...to name but a few names that say one must sit, hear, listen to the voice of the within-yet-beyond...cor ad cor loquiter, no?
As such, just like Alcibiades who loved Socrates, there is passion but perhaps I am forever doomed to misunderstand the very nature of that love, completely introspecting my private clay jar.
At any rate, I am an englishman, and an english church exists. Here I stand, speak for I intend to listen humbly.
I look forward to getting to know you all in due season.

    Welcome to the forum, Alcibiades!

By the way, why did you chose that username? Are you aiming for a political or military career?

Thank you for your welcomes, they are most kind and deeply appreciated.

Hardly! I don't think there's much scope for career advancement for an unreconstructed (and certainly unrepentant) Socialist Pacifist of the Labour left. Though doubtless it wouldn't be dull at least.

Far from it, I merely spirited Alcibiades out of the Symposium, interpreting his plight of thwarted sexual desire towards Socrates who regards the highest erotic acts to be pure intellectual to be possibly an apt metaphor and symbol of the misrelation of myself to Christianity., although I leave that for others to judge.

    Good to meet you.

Ah! Fair enough. You do remind me of someone else I met in a Traditional Roman Catholic forum a few years ago. Perhaps it is your wit, unmistakably British!
