Praise the Lord! Keep them coming, Admin(s)!

The three introductory quotes are very clarifying. Your construction of the page with serifs and design almost like a classical Wren cathedral, are admirable and beautiful.

Wonderful work! My hope is to one day find a great source for the homilies. They're out there but they aren't the easiest resources to find.

Lowly Layman, here is a good, clear, crisp copy of the Two Books of Homilies, from 1859:

http://books.google.ca/books?id=GkXzC7u50LoC&printsec=frontcover&dq=homilies of the church of england&hl=en&sa=X&ei=_EDgUOerLs_TqQGfoYCoAg&ved=0CDcQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=homilies of the church of england&f=false

To download: left-click the gear-shaped icon on the upper-right side of the PDF viewer, and click "download PDF", the fourth option in the drop-down list. You'll have to type a security captcha, but that's easy enough. :)

Sorry if you already know this, but we can't just assume everyone does.

I read in article 6 that

    The 1. Book of Esdras,
    The 2. Book of Esdras,
are "Of the Sufficiency of the Holy Scriptures for Salvation."

Is this still the case? I thought these books were no longer in the canon. If not, when and why were they taken out?

Friend, 1 & 2 Esdras are an archaic designation (i.e. 16th century) for the books of Ezra and Nehemiah, in our modern parlance.

The name 1 & 2 Esdras today refer to the apocryphal 3 & 4 Esdras.

Thank for that info. I couldn't quite follow what wikipedia was getting at when I read about the issue there.

It's a common problem; for example, Roman Catholics generally referred to 1 & 2 Samuel as "1 & 2 Kings", and 1 & 2 Kings as "3 & 4 Kings" for a long time. We Christians sure are bad at building a consensus sometimes... but thank the Lord for grace and mercy! :)

The Canadian 1962 BCP printing helps with this by adding clarification-brackets:

Of the Names and Number of the Canonical Books

    * The First Book of Esdras [Ezra],
    * The Second Book of Esdras [Nehemiah],

And the other Books (as Hierome saith) the Church doth read for example of life and instruction of manners; but yet doth not apply them to establish any doctrine; such are these following:

    * The Third Book of Esdras [I Esdras],
    * The Fourth Book of Esdras [II Esdras],
