    "The decline of faith in the Real Presence of Jesus the Eucharist is at the heart of the current crisis of the Church and its decline, especially in the West," stated Cardinal Sarah.

    As far as that statement goes, I think he's onto something. :hmm:

    Let me add, though, that I don't agree with some of his other statements (which are very much characteristic of Romanist thought).

    As a former RC, I have to say that I left the Roman Church for different reasons than he thinks are the problem. Atheism did not consume me, nor did I put God in second place. I objected to the RCC itself, and its beliefs and practices. I have found a home in the Anglican Church and feel my life is full of the 'sacred'. This is something he obviously believes but it isn't the reason a lot of people leave the RCC.
