Ask and you shall receive. Don't ask, and a stranger on the internet will do it anyway to pass the time.

Okay, this one isn't a meme, but anyway.....

Today at our church, a deacon was ordained into the priesthood. Just before the service, when he walked into the kitchen area, one of the other deacons said to him, "Hey! I hear you're about to become a father!"

So of course, I asked the ordinand if he would afterward be passing out any cigars. ;)

Collect for St. Charles, Sovereign King and Martyr.

O Most mighty God, terrible in Thy judgements, and wonderful in Thy doings towards the children of men, Who in Thy heavy displeasure didst suffer the life of our late gracious Sovereign to be this day taken away by wicked hands; We, Thy unworthy servants, humbly confess, that the sins of this Nation have been the cause which hath brought this heavy judgement upon us. But, O gracious God, when Thou makest inquisition for blood, lay not the guilt of this innocent blood (the shedding whereof nothing but the blood of Thy Son can expiate) lay it not to the charge of the people of this Land, nor let it ever be required of us, or our posterity. Be merciful, be merciful unto Thy People whom Thou hast redeemed; and be not angry with us forever; but pardon us for Thy mercies' sake, through the merits of Thy SON our LORD JESUS CHRIST. Amen.

That joke works with "John in the US" also. ;)

Except the 2nd in line is worse. And the 3rd in line is worse still!

Seems to me, if the saints are in heaven there's no need for them to pray. If they're paying attention to us at all (a big IF), they can zip right into the throne room and ask Jesus face-to-face.

I figure my mother is probably too busy up there, playing pinochle and hobnobbing with the relatives...

Is prayer not the same thing as asking Jesus? So if they go up and ask Jesus in person is that not basically them praying for us? BTW I don't ask for the saints prayers
