I read this fascinating article about Hymnody for Ash Wednesday (and how little of it there is): https://northamanglican.com/celebrating-the-penitential-music-for-ash-wednesday/ One of my personal favorites was proposed: Drop, drop, slow tears As we go through Lent, perhaps others will think of some great music to share.
I love Lent music, and one of my favorite things about the new 2017 hymnal from the REC is that it beefed up the Advent, Lent, and Penitential sections that have always been rather lean. That said, here's a Communion Hymn we sang today, which is just wonderfully appropriate for the a Lenten focus on the Cross of Christ: https://hymnary.org/text/and_now_o_father_mindful_of_the_love https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTBkw994IR8
I ordered several of those for review by my jurisdiction. We were scheduled to have General Convention last year but it was postponed to this August. The bishop is amenable to authorizing it as an alternative to the Hymnal 1940 but he wants some of our top people to put eyes on it first. I gave one to my organist and she plays out of it from time to time, usually for the distribution hymn and occasionally during the Offertory. I personally think it is a strong book.
Here's a wonderful song based on Song of Solomon 2:16-17 (Jesus Like a Gazelle) done in Korean. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FqfeQlvjazU
