I'm not sure what this data is supposed to prove. I suspect, it being predictive rather than objective it may be irrelevant to the situation on the ground over there in the US of A. Some states in hard and fast lock down probably had less COVID cases to start with, so have far fewer deaths following on and appear to be unnecessarily suppressing their economies. That though may be more an indication that their strategy is working well against the virus and in protecting the public from run away infection, rather than being a sign of incompetent management, as your posting seems to suggest. It seems from the comparative national figures that the unignorable conclusion must be that early lockdown, with copious testing and tracing of contacts results in low death rates. Whereas late lockdowns, no testing, no quarantine, and irresponsibe political lassitude in dealing promptly with the situation has resulted in LARGER numbers of deaths, the USA's being irrefutably by far the largest sum total. (but not necessarily by head of population yet, but given time and inaction . . . . well ! ?). .

Part of the problem of misinformation and wrongheadedness concerning complicated political issues is the fact that people just can't be bothered to read far enough into factual articles to discover the truth about the issues. They prefer trite 'soundbytes' and 'snappy slogans' and think they know the truth. But most of the time they don't. And the politicians KNOW that because of that they can 'get away with it' by issueing trite soundbytes and meaningless slogans.
Before anyone claims famous virologist said COVID19 is man made weapon of mass destruction. It is only massively destructive, as Italy, Spain, UK and USA are now only beginning to discover.
Perhaps Covid is a massive killer in the US, but it is also an amazing cure for heart disease, cancer, and a host of other illnesses. Deaths from all other causes are way, way down! Maybe that is how the US (allegedly) has 1/4 of all Covid deaths in the world even though we only have 1/25 of the world's population.
The most enlightening figures will be the overall deaths per month for Jan, Feb, Mar and Apr 2020. Here were the figures for 2019. The question then must be "If there is a huge increase, what actually was the cause"? The jury will have to stay out on that question until we get the 2020 figures, or has someone already got them and is not telling us?
The simplest and most basic truth about COVID19 pandemic is: The countries that moved fast have curtailed the epidemic. The countries that delayed have not. The people running the ones who have not are now looking for someone else to lay the blame on for that. Basic, fundamental, garden of Eden stuff. Adam blamed Eve, Eve blamed the snake, the snake didn't have a leg to stand on. .
Well done CNN. UK Media have not got the guts to tell their own population these facts. Is the careful selecting of 'facts' to not report perhaps a form of 'lying'? Not telling the thruth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?

How do you locate honesty in officialdom or as Pilate asked, "What is Truth"? Human beings are definitely inclined towards believing only what they want to be true. Liars and tricksters rely upon this universal human trait to gain advantage. There is an abundance of people therefore who are willing slaves to deception. .
