I've just seen the work Philip Barrington has accomplished here on putting The Book of Homilies into more contemporary English.

My father and I did a modern day re-interpretation of several of the homilies from book one. More importantly, we've divided the homilies into devotional chunks expressly for devotional purposes for Lent. Please check it out and may it bear fruit in your life this Lent.

You can download it here: http://www.lightofchristgeorgetown.org/the-homilies/

    Peace,
    Kurt

Glorious work, from both you and Philip

Are you Kurt an Anglican, going so far deep into the Anglican patrimony?

    You are all very welcome.

Yes, I'm an Anglican priest in Georgetown, TX. I think, in our age of general Anglican confusion, knowing our history is important. I'm on a quest to better understand it myself. :D

    Sure!

I've always felt a strong attraction toward Scripture since before I can remember. Long story short, that eventually led me to pursue the priesthood. Parents grew up going to every kind of church under the sun. After reading some Luther, I attended a small Lutheran seminary, but realized at some point that Luther was actually pretty catholic. This line of reasoning (plus various friends) brought me into the Anglican Communion. Was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Bill Atwood about 4 years ago. Was working as a hospice chaplain until about 2 years ago when I was installed here in Georgetown under a new bishop, Todd Hunter. A church plant of about 4 years it was mostly retirees and ex-Episcopal. We've about doubled in size and are mostly families now. :) I'm about being faithful, Christ-centered, practical, and sacramental. And feel tremendous gratitude that I can serve the Lord and his people in this capacity.

    Fr. Kurt,

I have downloaded your Lenten devotional and want to express my thanks. You and your father did an excellent job and I hope many more people will give it a try. May God bless you and your ministry!
