Synod General Secratary, William Nye has said there's nothing to prevent "transgendered"people from renewing baptismal vows under a new name. I find this very disturbing. Not only have people decided voluntary to mutilate and maim the body which the Lord God blessed them with, now the Church of England appears willing to allow them to utilise a sacrament in order to celebrate their abominable acts. When will a predominant cleric take a stand and say enough is enough? People who carry out acts to themselves or others which go against the natural law and Gods law need to be confronted. I say to hell with political correctness when it stands in the way of proclaiming truth and beauty and the C of E will have let down millions by not availing of an opportunity to impart a truth
There is only one baptism. Never to be repeated. Especially not to commemorate the mutilation of one's sex organs in violation of Genesis 1:27 and Deuteronomy 22:5 imho. The Church may never condone what God calls sin.
To be fair, they're not rebaptizing people, just renewing those baptismal vows. William Nye isn't incorrect, really, in saying nothing prevents them from doing so. I find it strange, though (LGBT issues aside, on which I refuse to comment on further); Baptism is effectual in a spiritual sense, so a change in physicality does not necessitate such a thing. If anything, one should be accentuating the fact that no spiritual change has happened after transition, at least as I see it.
And I thought Baptism was a washing away of a sinful life, I guess the Baptismal vows now can confirm and condone an unholy life displeasing to God. Guess I really had a big misunderstanding...
