Russia bans Jehovah's witnesses

    I'm interested to hear people's opinions of this move by the Russian govt who view JWs as subversive

    Not good. I am all for freedom and while I do not agree with a majority of what JW push, I'd never deny ANYBODY their religious freedom. This is not good.

    I can understand wanting to preserve "the One True Holy Faith" but to the point of banning JW, making JW illegal....I definitely don't think that group should be persecuted.

    Russia's history of intolerance of religion, especially of religions it does not control, makes this move provocative. I support the freedom of conscience and the free exercise of religion. We know that catholic Christianity is the true expression of the one true faith in the one true and living God. True faith doesn't need to evangelize with the sword of state coercion. And we don't need to make martyrs out of a heretical sect.
