Do people accept the teachings of the seven ecumenical Councils, of the Ancient Church?

What relation do some of those councils have to the Ancient Church, when the 2nd Nicea was convened in the 8th century? Especially by which point the Early Church was gone?

In the 4th century Bishop Epiphanius tore down any depictions of Jesus as idolatry and Augustine witnessed to no images in the Christian Church, while in the 8th century 2nd Nicea proclaimed that images were not only allowed but necessary.

Anglicans historically accept the first four councils as binding, with aspects of 5, 6, and 7 as agreeable with Scripture. See Lancelot Andrewes.
