My grandfather had, in his attic, several versions of what's known as the English Missal. I am aware that the American Missal is based on it, but was wondering how common its usage is today, within the Anglo Catholic sphere?

He used it regularly, but also used the BCP from time to time, and his own personal prayerbook is literally falling apart from use.

The American Missal is actually not based on the English Missal.

The English Missal is literally the Roman Tridentine Mass translated into English, while the Anglican/American Missal is the BCP with Anglo-Catholic additions and options. As far as I can tell, it is limited to certain ACC parishes nowadays.
