Hello! I'm a Traditional Roman Catholic interested in Anglicanism. I spent some time as an Anglo-Catholic, but now find myself drawn to a more Reformed Anglicanism. I've been following some of the discussions here and have found them very interesting and informative. I'm not sure I have much to contribute to the discussion. I'm mostly just here to listen and learn.
Could you share with us more of your perspective as a Traditional Roman Catholicism. Do you attend the Tridentine Mass? What makes you a traditional catholic? What do you find so compelling in Reformed Anglicanism? I look forward to hearing more. Many thanks!
Contribute, learn, listen... do whatever you're comfortable with, Mercy. You are welcome any time. I'm a former-Roman Catholic trad myself, having had great love for the Tridentine Mass. What a difference the holiness of the Fathers, and the sound logic of the reformed Anglican Divines, have made. I pray that they transform your Christian life too.
I did, when I lived in a city where it was offered. Unfortunately it isn't available in my present location. Rejecting the liturgical and doctrinal innovations that followed the Second Vatican Council. At first I was drawn to Anglicanism because in many ways it seemed more Catholic than the contemporary Roman Church, especially with regard to the liturgy. But I stopped attending my local Episcopal church over issues such as women's ordination, which I couldn't then and still can't accept. At that time I was still thoroughly Roman Catholic in my theology. Since then, I've discovered Augustine's views on predestination, which have made me more sympathetic to Reformed theology, and so I'm looking again at Anglicanism. But just as I was a Traditionalist in the RCC, so it seems that in the Anglican Communion, if I fit there at all, it would again be as part of a very conservative minority. These were cursory responses, I'm afraid. But I'd be happy to discuss any of this in more detail, if it interests you.
Hello again, Servos. Are there not many ladies here? I hadn't actually noticed, though I can't say I mind that...
Wow, I wasn't expecting to be celebrated in song! You guys really know how to make a girl feel welcome!
